IMG_20190924_202246[1]

“Collagen Power Firming Eye Creams contains highly concentrated collagen to lift wrinkles around eyes while improving skin elasticity”

Ingredients :

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polysilicone-11, Isododecane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tropolone, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Adenosine, Beta-Glucan, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Copper Tripeptide-1, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Honey Extract, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Prolin, Serine, Threonine, Arginine, Lysine, Glutamic Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Disodium EDTA

Although I didn’t care so much about using eye creams years ago, nowadays it has been a crucial product for me. However, I always face the same problems every time my previous eye cream ran out : limited brands and options to choose. Despite Korean brands’ advertisement of how important an eye cream is, I have to state my disappointment since Korean brands doesn’t do a lot of innovations for this product.

I’m not a fan of Mizon, since Mizon isn’t that swift in innovating products. According to my observations, Mizon isn’t the type of brand that joins the hype, like suddenly launch star ingredients-based product. However, Mizon is a consummate Korean cosmetic brand and I don’t have to worry about putting harmful ingredients to my skin. That’s why I finally chose to try Mizon Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream; I was anxious due to the limited eye cream options.

MIZON Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream’s packaging has chic purple color with abstract floral illustration, both the tube and the box. Both the packaging are doff-printed and minimalist, yet contains scant English information about the product. As for the eye cream itself, the texture isIMG_20190924_202339[1] slimy and somewhat light, hazy white-colored, and almost odorless. Due to the light texture, a little usage of this product could go a long way.

Thankfully, MIZON Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream doesn’t give heavy feeling like other eye products usually do. It was easy to apply, but unfortunately quite longer to absorb. It left my eyes’ areas looked wet for relatively long time. However, sometimes I experienced stinging sensation as people normally suffer upon alcohol component, particularly when I applied too much of this product. According to cosDNA, the ingredients’ list are generally safe, even quite a lot of natural extract and fairly high percentage of collagen (42%), so I’d consider this case was just a special case. In addition, this product also claims itself to be 5-free formula (benzophenone, paraben, ethanol, artificial scent, and color) which is also a supportive point for anyone bears sensitive skin.

IMG_20190924_202528[1]

Sadly, this product hasn’t done anything to diminish my eyebags nor lessen my under-eyes wrinkles, but the plus point is, I reckon there’s no additional wrinkles around my eyes despite my bad sleeping habits. I deduce MIZON Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream is pretty decent to restrain increasing wrinkles, but it’s gonna need some more time an

d usage to treat existing problem. As for me personally, although MIZON Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream is quite good, but I haven’t planned hitherto to repurchase this product since I experienced nothing so special in particular.

IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream

IMG_20190326_205253

“This light and moisturizing gel cream can help to make sensitive skin blemish calming and relief with centella asiatica leaf water 70% and tea tree leaf water 10% from skin stress”

Ingredients :

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Water, Niacinamide, Phenyl Trimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, C12-14 Pareth-12, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Croosspolymer, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Brassica Oleracea Italic (Broccoli) Extract, Medicago Sativa (Alfalfa) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Extract, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Seed Extract, Allantoin, Centella Asiatica Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Aspalathus Linearis Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Commiphora Myrrha Resin Extract, Perilla Frutenscens Leaf Extract, Yucca Schidigera Root Extract

I’ve been eyeing IUNIK products since months before I finally decided to buy this IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream. At first, I was attracted by its wide range of serums (Black Snail Restore Serum, Rose Galactomyces Synergy Serum, Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum, and Tea Tree Relief Serum), unfortunately I had to turn a blind eye to them since the one ran out from my stocks was the moisturizer, not a serum.

I had some serious contemplation toward gel cream products; I love the texture of a gel cream as well as its light feeling to the skin, but according to my experiences, it usually doesn’t provide enough moisture that I need. However, I still chose to try this product, and outsmarted this case by putting IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream into my morning routine.

IMG_20190328_204440As the primary packaging, IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream  chooses to use a white and pastel green colored tube, as well as its box. I assume this design is related to the color of leaf water of centella asiatica and tea tree, also to give the ‘calming’ impression just like the product name. Also, please make sure the product output hole is sealed with an allumunium foil to ensure

product safety. The product itself was transparent and odorless, with the texture of a dense gel-cream. My explanation might not be easily understandable enough, so if you are familiar with snail gel cream, just imagine a similar product, but with more concentrated and thicker consistency.

In contrast with the light texture and feeling, IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream surprisingly provides enough moisture to my skin, additionally with a nice after-usage feeling. Considering how it’s easy to apply, I decided to use it both in the morning and at night, and I could feel the differences only in less than a month.

  • This product helps to calm my cheeks’ redness. Let’s take a look at the claim of ‘to calm sensitive skin blemish‘; I agree with this one, but sometimes I still get my period pimples and blemishes, so I guess IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream’s ability is limited up to normal circumstances only.
  • This product helps to prevent acne and pimples in my skin, while makes it healthier from the outside. I could conclude that the hype of centella asiatica wasn’t just a part of claptrap, and IUNIK does an admirable job of combining it with tea tree.
  • This product also claims to be light and moisturizing, which I fell in love with. It gives the moisturizing effect my skin needs despite its light texture, and hydrates my face very well.

The ingredients analysis by cosDNA states that no harmful ingredients are contained; the highest risk number is shown for cyclopentasiloxane (as a solvent) which only has the scale of 3. In case you haven’t read the list carefully, the main ingredients are not water; they are centella asiatica leaf water and tea tree leaf water. Not to mention how many natural ingredients are listed on the list.

ETUDE HOUSE UV Double Cut Fresh Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++

“The refreshing sun gel in water splash texture provides looking greasy-free, non-sticky and hydration to the skin”

Ingredients :

Water, EthylhexylMethoxycinnamate, Homosalate, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, DiethylaminoHydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, EthylhexylTriazone, Silica, Niacinamide, CaprylylMethicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Dimethicone/Vinyl DimethiconeCrosspolymer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Propanediol, Saccharide Hydrolysate, Octyldodecanol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, CentellaAsiatica Extract, PortulacaOleracea Extract, HouttuyniaCordata Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, EchiumPlantagineum Seed Oil, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Water, Propylene Glycol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, CardiospermumHalicacabum Flower/Leaf/Vine Extract, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Ethyl Hexanediol, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Fragrance

Choosing a sunscreen product is always a tricky matter for me since K-brands don’t develop sunscreen products range as vary as they do toward serums, essences, or toners. I was slightly confused because the review of this product was very scant (maybe because this product was still pretty new), but I finally decided to give this a try due to the convincing claims and advertisement of this product.

IMG_20190212_123634

ETUDE HOUSE UV Double Cut Fresh Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ comes in a flip-topped cap, usual-sunscreen tube inserted in a box as a secondary packaging. Both of them is dominated with while color with very little tinge of dark blue (quite unlikely of ETUDE brand, isn’t it?). The product itself has a yellowish color like the white in milk cream, with a scent that’s definitely fragrance. As for me myself, I don’t mind the fragrance content since I don’t avoid fragrance in general, especially if it smell quite nice, like this one.

I didn’t put a high expectation toward this product. However, I found this product quite impressive. It took only relatively short time to absorb and the result wasn’t oil-free , but left no white-cast and produced minimal greasiness. This product also didn’t leave heavy feeling to my skin, which usually other sunscreen products do.

As for the claim:

  • a yes for ‘provide looking greasy-free’

I found this claim almost meets my expectation, since the greasiness was minimal and didn’t make my face looked gross.

  • a yes for ‘non-sticky’

ETUDE HOUSE UV Double Cut Fresh Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ needed approximately shorter time for the stickiness to recede compared to usual skincare products.

  • a no for ‘provide hydration to the skin’

I doubt ETUDE HOUSE UV Double Cut Fresh Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ does hydrate skin considering its high content of alcohol.

According to cosDNA, some components show relatively medium risk. I don’t even mind the alcohol since it has fairly low score of safety risk. On the other hand, I’m somehow feel that the fragrance component must be disliked by some people. Plus, a sensitive skin bearer should be aware for the alcohol content since it’s fourth on the list, which means it is relatively high.

Personally, I usually avoid high percentage of alcohol in any skincare products, but I’ll let it slip now seeing that it really does something to help the product absorption time and is somehow pretty safe (according to the CosDNA analysis). On my personal view, I’d give more yes to ETUDE HOUSE UV Double Cut Fresh Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ because it absorbed faster and produces less heavy feeling, less stickiness, as well as less greasiness.

Pros :

  • contains no parabens
  • relatively affordable price
  • quick absorption with no heavy feeling on the skin
  • minimal greasiness
  • leaves no white-cast
  • high SPF and PA
  • slight stickiness

Cons :

  • the alcohol content!
  • quite a number of medium risk components
  • still quite rare on the market
  • does nothing for the hydration claim

Repurchase : yes

” Speedy tone-up and blur effect cream that makes bright and correct skin tone. Contains Goat Milk extract, Vita complex 10, and Peach extract which helps brighten your inner and outer skin tone.”

In general, I tend to avoid using too many make up products since I was anxious about pore cloggings and the health of my skin itself (and I have a mindset that using a lot of make-up means reducing my self-confidence toward my original appearances). But turns out even an idealism wouldn’t prevail the age; I finally gave up and deemed to buy a new product especially to blur my visible cheeks’ pores. I was in the serious contemplation back then, from ETUDE HOUSE to MISSHA, from MOONSHOT to LANEIGE, and considering the pros-cons (and the price hehe), I decided to try PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++. Was this product able to support my need, as my problem was merely visible pores and uneven complexion?

Beside PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++, the other options from this line was Banana Milk Blur and Pure Milk Blur. The one I chose advertises to focus on UV protection and color correction by giving vibrant and bright complexion look to the skin. Moreover, PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++ states to be suitable for pale and lifeless skin. However, Milk CC Pure Milk Blur might act as an instant brightening product and Banana Milk CC Milk Blur concerns more in repairing uneven skin tone.

PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++ packaging is dominated with white color with the pink-colored screw-top closure. I found the box quite cute, as it resemblances a milk box. Product claim and ingredients are written clearly in English and Korean. To make sure that the product is new, pay attention to the alummunium foil seal that closes the output hole because there’s no protection seal on the box. For the product itself, PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++ has pale pink color, thick creamy texture, and pleasant sweet milky scent. Although the texture is quite heavy, I didn’t have any difficulties applying the product since it glided and absorbed easily in my face. I usually spared 10 – 15 minutes for the product to absorb, to let it adjust the original color to my skin tone and present a nice brighter look. However, I preferred to apply the product only a little to prevent uneven skin appearance.

IMG_20190903_193143

While being used, this product presented noticeable difference to the skin. My skin was clearly brighter, and my complexion looked more even in due course. A short time usage of this product results on grayish pink color on the skin, but it turned out perfectly as soon as I applied powder.

PERIPERA categorizes these line as CC cream, and this Peach one is notoriously has a CC effect claim. Since CC cream in common is a product that concerns more in skincare than make-up, I gladly state that PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++ doesn’t give heavy feeling like usual make-up products do. It just feel like applying skincare products, but the minus point is, I haven’t seen any permanent effect until 4,5 months of usage

However, I must agree to the most precedent reviews that state how light this product’s coverage is. My pores are relatively small (visible, but small) and my complexion is only uneven in some part, so I found this product very satisfying. In contrast, in case you’re looking for more than daily make-up look or you have generally very dull, unhealthy face, PERIPERA Blur Pang Peach Milk Blur SPF 30 PA++ just isn’t for you.

I was quite taken aback seeing some harmful-stated components such as 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor (safety index 7), Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (safety index 6), and Retinyl Palmitate (safety index 9), rated by cosDNA. Senstive skin bearers should be more watchful.
